The Union of Arab Banks is the largest banking network in the Arab world,
bringing together more than 350 banks and financial institutions, central
banks, banking associations, development funds, and an expanding
community of digital financial institutions.
This diverse membership enables UAB to serve as the collective voice of the
Arab banking sector, fostering cooperation, policy dialogue, and knowledge
exchange across the region.
UAB's membership extends across the Arab world and Europe, reflecting the
diversity of the region's financial landscape and reinforcing the Union's role
as a bridge between Arab banking institutions and the international financial

01 / ACTIVE
Active Members
Arab commercial banks, Islamic banks, development funds,
investment institutions, and other eligible financial institutions. Active Members participate in the General Assembly with voting rights in accordance with the Union's by Law.
02 / OBSERVER
Observer Members
Arab central banks and national banking associations. Observer
Members participate in the General Assembly in an advisory capacity without voting rights, in accordance with the Union's by Law.
03 / PARTICIPATING
Participating Members
Arab banking and financial institutions operating outside the Arab
region with at least 51% Arab ownership, in accordance with the
Union's Basic Law. They enjoy full voting rights in the General
Assembly and are eligible for representation on the Board of
Directors.
04 / DIGITAL FINANCE
Digital Financial Institutions & FinTech Members
Recognizing the rapid transformation of financial services, UAB has
expanded its membership framework to include Digital Financial
Institutions and FinTech companies.
Reflecting UAB's commitment to innovation, digital transformation,

APPLICATION REVIEW
All applications are reviewed by the UAB Secretariat
against the Union's bylaws and admission criteria.
Approval is not automatic; UAB reserves the right to
request additional information or decline an application
that does not meet its membership standards.
ELIGIBILITY
Who can join UAB?
UAB membership is open to Arab commercial and Islamic banks,
development funds, investment institutions, central banks, national
banking associations, and Digital Financial Institutions and FinTech
companies.
Membership also extends to Arab banking and financial institutions operating
outside the Arab region, reflecting UAB's growing international footprint. Eligibility
is determined in accordance with the Union's Basic Law and the applicable
membership criteria adopted by UAB.

Review & admission
Applications are reviewed under UAB procedures.

applicable fees, and formally admitted upon
